1000 Jobs Initiative Exceeds Expectations - Premier

Premier and Minister for Finance, Hon. Andrew Fahie has announced that the 1000 jobs in 1000 days initiative that his Government launched in August “is going far beyond expectations.”
The Premier, while speaking at the launch of the Marine Professional Training programme at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on October 7, mentioned that a number of jobs have been secured as part of the programme.

Hon. Fahie declared, “We have thus far recognized almost close to 60 jobs in the last two or three weeks under the 1000 jobs in 1000 days initiative, and when I say so, I mean persons who are transitioning right now to take the job.”

“We have one institution that already hired about 20 or more persons from the 1000 jobs in 1000 days initiative. We have over 500 persons that registered…Out of the 500, 491 actually did the training of signing up for their resume and coming for the training – which is excellent that you can have such a small percentage of people drop off that did not come for training,” the Premier added.

When the 1000 jobs in 1000 days initiative was launched on August 21, hundreds flocked the Administration Complex to get employment placement through the programme, which was one of the campaign promises that was made by this Government.
