18 duffle bags of cocaine! Taximan now charged

Police have confirmed that the cocaine seized in Cane Garden Bay on Saturday amounted to more 500 kilograms.
The drugs were found in 18 duffle bags inside the vehicle of 39-year-old taximan, Paul Hodge of the aforesaid community.

He has now been charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Following the bust, Police Commissioner Michael Matthews enforced the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force’s ‘war on drugs’.

“We remain committed to the battle to make it difficult for those who want to use the Territory as a transhipment point for illicit drugs. It is a war that we must continue to wage and win, in order to maintain our enjoyed level of security and safety both in our waters and on land. There can be no compromise, no middle ground,” Matthews said.
