220 participate in CIL Walk/Run for VI Alzheimer’s Association

Two hundred and 20 people took to the start line of the Caribbean Insurers Limited (CIL) 5K Walk/Run to raise funds for the VI Alzheimer’s Association on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
Among those was Governor John J. Rankin, CMG who participated for the third year running and was presented with a plaque for being a consistent participant as Governor.

The Overall Winners were Reuben Stoby and Vicki Francis (Female Division).

Stoby, who has won the event several times, was given a challenge by teenager Charlie Potgieter and the two of them battled it out for most of the distance; however, young Potgieter had to settle for second overall.

Francis ran unchallenged to win the female division.

The Winning Team was the BVI Netball Association while second was the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

The Largest Firm award went to Harneys.

The award for Oldest Male was taken by Robin Kingford while the Oldest Female award was given to Shirley Liburd.

The participants who travelled the furthest for the race were Danillo and Jesusa Valung of Jost van Dyke.

The Youngest Participant was 1-year-old Mariah Watley, who cruised through the walk/run course in a stroller pushed by her dad!

The award for Most Creative Team went to FirstBank.

CIL to add to proceeds!- Simone T. Montsanto

With some 220 people showing up for the walk/run, Director of CIL, Simone T. Montsanto said, “It was a good event. Lots of people took advantage of the free testing from the two medical providers.”

CIL has pledged to hand over all the proceeds from the event to the VI Alzheimer’s Association.
