25 active cases of COVID-19 in VI- Premier

Active COVID-19 cases in the Virgin Islands are down to 25, Premier and Minister of Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has announced in a COVID-19 update today, August 27, 2021.

There were some 31 active cases at the previous update of August 23, 2021.

Just over a month ago, the VI experienced an outbreak of COVID-19 and active cases reached more than 1600.

Some 5500 more persons need to be vaccinated for the territory to be considered as having herd immunity.

Premier Fahie urged the territory to continue to adhere to the protocols and also to get vaccinated if there is no valid reason for them to not take the jab.

He said some 5500 more persons need to get vaccinated for the territory to be considered as having herd immunity.

Additionally, he said another batch of vaccines is set to expire on August 31, 2021.

Vaccination drive @ Festival Grounds this weekend


Meanwhile, the Premier announced that another 'Operation Protect Each Other Vaccination Drive Thru will be held from this weekend at Festival Grounds from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday and from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Monday and Tuesday.

Both first and second jabs of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered.
