275 active COVID-19 cases in VI; 8 hospitalised

275 active COVID-19 cases in VI; 8 hospitalised

The Virgin Islands (VI) continues to see an increase in COVID-19 positive cases, with the latest figure as of December 29, 2021, being 275 cases based on results of testing done on December 28, 2021.

Of the cases, 8 persons are currently hospitalized according to the data released by the Ministry of Health.

Just yesterday, health officials reported that the case count was 256 which means that in just one day, cases have increased by 19.

Bulk of cases on Tortola

Of the currently active cases, 232 are on Tortola with 42 on Virgin Gorda and 9 on Anegada.

Some 144 of the cases are considered local cases with 78 found in contacts of cases.

27 of the cases were discovered through travel screening, 5 through entry screening day 5, and 21 through entry screening day 0.

Of the cases, 8 persons are currently hospitalized according to the data released by the Ministry of Health.
