4 scooters detained in weekend operation by RVIPF

Operations over the weekend by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) resulted in the detention of four scooters and one vehicle, and the arrest of one driver.
The ten-member operation team which included officers of the Road Policing Unit, Armed Response Unit and Beat and Patrol reported three persons for prohibited tint, two for having a loud muffler and one for driving unlicensed and uninsured vehicle, a press release from the RVIPF today, June 22, 2021, stated.

"All six will subsequently be charged," the RVIPF said.

Officers also issued eight tickets; two for driving without seatbelts, four for standing in the tray of a moving truck, one for riding without a helmet and one for not having a front identification plate.

Commissioner of Police Mark Collins lauded the officers for their persistence over the past weeks in insuring that vehicle users comply with the Road Traffic Laws. He reminded persons that operations such as these will continue through the summer months particularly targeting scooters with loud mufflers and heavily tinted vehicles. As such, persons are strongly advised to make the necessary modifications to their vehicles to comply with the law.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has executed several similar operations since the end of April of this year.
