Active COVID-19 cases in VI take a downturn

Active COVID-19 cases in the Virgin Islands have reduced to 132, 23 less when compared to 155 in the previous update of May 12, 2022.

According to the Territory’s Epidemiological Summary, the latest figures are the result of testing done on May 18, 2022, and reported on May 19, 2022.

There are 113 Local Cases, 15 Contacts of Case and 3 were detected via Travel Screening. Only one case was detected on Entry Screening Day 0.

Tortola has the bulk of active cases


119 cases have been reported on Tortola and 13 on Virgin Gorda.

No cases have been reported on Jost van Dyke and Anegada, although the Claudia Creque Educational Centre on Anegada switched to online learning on May 18, 2022, reportedly due to cases detected on campus.

Six persons are hospitalised with COVID-19 related illnesses.
