Air traffic controller lands in hot water after accepting undeclared goods

An air traffic controller employed at Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport at Beef Island landed himself in hot water after he allegedly accepted undeclared goods from a small aircraft arriving from St Lucia last week.
According to reports reaching our newsroom, Raphael Singh was fined $2,500 for Fraudulent Evasion and violation of the territory’s Customs laws.

Singh, who is stationed at the air traffic control tower at Beef Island, allegedly knowingly received the undeclared goods, which was in violation of the Customs Management and Duties Act (No. 6) of 2010.

The aircraft, which arrived in the territory on May 19, 2021, was also detained and the pilot was also reportedly fined.
