American Airlines Conducts Successful Test Flight to BVI Ahead of Inaugural Flights

American Airlines conducted a successful test flight to the BVI's Terrance B Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island on May 25, 2023, ahead of its inaugural flights to the territory on June 1.
The test flight was done to ensure that the airline's crew is adequately trained for the shorter runway at the TB Lettsome International Airport.

Initially, AA's Embraer E175 aircraft was scheduled to do one flight to the BVI on June 1, but due to high demand, two inaugural flights have been scheduled.

There will also be additional flights on June 3, 9, 16, and 30.

The first flight will depart Miami around 10:30 am and the second around 12:30 pm.

The AA flights are important for the BVI as successive governments have tried and failed to convince airlines to fly directly into the BVI.

The Works Minister, Kye Rymer, is credited for making the historic deal possible after rounds of negotiations with potential airlines.
