American rock band sponsors free skating @ VISAR’s Winter Wonderland today

For persons who have not experienced skating at VISAR's Winter Wonderland at Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park, today, December 30, 2022, is the final day to do so, and for free.

This has been made possible through the generosity of The WaterWheel Foundation.

According to a press release from the Project Manager for Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) Winter Wonderland, Julie Schneider, the skating rink will open from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The public is advised that guests can only book one skating session per person and persons must walk with socks or purchase a pair for $5.

Skating rink opens from 12:00 pm

Starting at 12:00 pm, reservation hosts will be available to assist guests in scheduling skating sessions. Persons can stop by the rink in person or call 441RINK.

Additionally, walk-up guests are also welcome on the night of the event,

The public is advised that guests can only book one skating session per person and persons must walk with socks or purchase a pair for $5. Anyone under 6 years of age must be accompanied by an adult on the ice. Also, guests must arrive 15 minutes before their skating session to sign the liability waiver; if guests are late their spot will be given to persons on the waiting list.

VISAR’s Operation Manager, John Phillip Aspinal said: “I am so happy and pleased to be a part of this event that has become a Christmas staple for the community of the BVI particularly the families. I don’t think anyone can deny the happiness on their faces as they skate, fall down and get back up again; the smile never goes away. I am convinced they make new friends as they help each other around the rink.”

Free skating at VISAR's Winter Wonderland has been made possible through the generosity of The WaterWheel Foundation.

American rock band 'Phish'

Ms Schneider shared that The WaterWheel Foundation was started by the American rock band Phish and supports nonprofits in the band's home state of Vermont or in communities where the band tours.

"I am truly grateful that the lead singer of Phish, Trey Anastasio and his family have a true bond with the BVI and see the value in supporting not only VISAR but the BVI as a whole. The funding they have provided will not only create lifelong memories for the community but will also go towards ensuring VISAR’s crew members have the medical training and equipment necessary to ensure they are ready 24/7 to respond to marine emergencies.” Julie Schneider owner of Purpose Driven Consultants and Project Manager for VISAR’s Winter Wonderland.
