Apple In Talks To Bring Google's Gemini AI To iPhone, Says Report

Apple is reportedly in advanced talks with Google to incorporate Google's advanced Gemini AI into the iPhone, a move that could significantly enhance Apple's AI capabilities, which critics have deemed lackluster compared to competitors.
The discussions, if successful, could see Google’s AI featured in the next iOS and iPhone release later this year. Shares for both tech giants rose following the Bloomberg report, with Google's increasing by over 6% and Apple's by up to 2.5%.

These companies already share a lucrative search engine agreement, where Google pays Apple billions annually to secure its search engine’s position on the iPhone. This longstanding arrangement is currently under scrutiny by the US Justice Department over potential antitrust violations.

Bloomberg also mentioned Apple's potential talks with OpenAI, makers of ChatGPT, hinting at further AI partnerships without elaborating.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has promised major AI updates, but joining forces with outside firms may disappoint some who anticipated in-house advancements.

Analyst Colin Sebastian suggests a Google-Apple deal could dominate AI on mobile platforms and potentially hinder Apple from matching the AI industry’s pace.
