US President Donald Trump declared he alone has the "total" authority to decide when the economy reopens.
- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ripped President Trump over his claim to
have “total” authority over the restrictions that states have put in
place to combat the coronavirus.
- “He basically declared himself
King Trump,” Cuomo said, “And all that annoying federal-state
back-and-forth that our Founding Fathers went through, he just
disregarded that.”
The US death toll is approaching 24,000 and is the world's highest.
But Trump says he is encouraged by signs the numbers are flattening out.
