Atlantis Bahamas fires almost 10% of staff

Atlantis Bahamas fires almost 10% of staff

Staff at Atlantis Paradise Island woke up to some grim news on Tuesday Morning, May 18, 2021, with the announcement that 700 of its 7,300 staff will be terminated.
In a letter to staff, Audrey Oswell, President and Managing Director, placed the decision to fire staff on reduced business because of coronavirus (COVID-19) travel restrictions.

“While we expect Atlantis to recover fully and business volumes continue to increase since reopening, the significant changes we will undergo are not temporary or short-lived. Because of this, we need to make fundamental shifts by reducing the size of our workforce around a more focused business strategy,” Oswell said.

All affected staff will be contacted by their department leader and they will receive an email from Human Resources informing them of their termination.

Oswell thanked all staff for their contribution to the company and he asked active Atlantis employees to remind the departing staff that they will always be part of the family.
