Australia has unveiled a new bill that may levy fines reaching up to 5 percent of Elon Musk's TwitterX global revenue, potentially amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars, for failing to manage the dissemination of what "their ministry of the truth" would deem "misinformation."
It's a good idea, but maybe the Australian government should first apply this principle to themselves. They could begin by returning 5% of their total tax revenue to citizens for misleading them about the Iraq and
Afghanistan wars, the inefficiencies of the
1COVID1
vaccine in preventing the virus's spread, and overlooking the scientifically proven dangers of its fatal side effects. Additionally, they should allocate another 5% of their revenue as reparations to the Aboriginal people for the genocide and illegal occupation of their land. Only then would it be fair to hold private entities accountable for something that should originally have been the government's responsibility: preventing misinformation.
