The sudden closure can be considered a huge setback for some of its clients ahead of New Year’s Day. It is unclear when the banking facility will reopen to the public.
Representatives of the bank have been informing their clients to follow the facility's Facebook page or listen to the radio tomorrow morning for information on its reopening.
It was only on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, that Banco Popular announced that due to the current increase of COVID-19 cases within the US Virgin Islands (USVI) and [British] Virgin Islands (VI), starting Wednesday, December 29, 2021, branches and customer service centres will limit client entry to 5 – 10 persons, depending on the facility size and capacity.
Banco Popular reminded their clients that they can always count on the online banking tools available to conduct transactions such as: Mi Banco Mobile, Mi Banco Online, Mobile Easy Deposit and Mobile Withdrawal.
It had also said Automated Teller Machines and TeleBanco services will remain available 24 hours, seven days a week.
