Barrow's Sacred Heart Primary School Faces Long-Term Closure

Sacred Heart Primary School in Barrow-in-Furness closed in January 2023 due to unsafe conditions. Repairs may take up to five years. Temporary facilities are being used to ensure continuous education.
Sacred Heart Primary School in Barrow-in-Furness, evacuated in January 2023 due to unsafe conditions, might remain closed for three to five years for extensive repairs.

In the interim, temporary buildings are being installed at the school’s original site on Lumley Street and at nearby St Bernard's High School.

Headteacher Simone Beach commended the community's support and resilience of students and staff, who are currently attending classes at alternative locations and in Portakabins.

PE Teacher Jack Peet emphasized their commitment to ensuring uninterrupted education.

The school has been prioritized for work under the school building programme.
