Beginning march 8 USVI restaurants will be allowed to seat 75 percent capacity and beaches will close at 5p.M.; restriction easing also announced for taxi operators

USVI Governor Albert Bryan announced today March 2nd 2021 during the administration’s weekly press briefing that there will be some Covid-19 restrictions eased beginning next week for restaurants, taxi operators and weekend beach access.
Beginning March 8, restaurants will be able to seat up to 75 percent of their capacity as opposed to the 50 percent currently in place. The governor also stated that restaurants will no longer be limited to six patrons per table.

Taxi operators will be able to transport more than 50 percent of their capacity as long as passengers are members of the same family or group. The governor said the current restriction has caused some taxi operators to split large families or groups on tours. This could sometime lead to additional cost, inconvenience and make for a less enjoyable experience.

Beaches will close at 5 p.m. instead of 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays once the new measures go into effect March 8.

All other current protocols, including wearing of masks and social distancing, will remain in place.
