Broken main leads to water disruption in several Tortola communities

Director of the Water & Sewage Department Perline Scatliffe-Leonard has said the water disruption affecting several residents on Tortola is because of a broken main.
Leonard published a notice on the local community Facebook page after receiving a number of complaints from consumers who said they were without water since after 6 am on Tuesday.

She said: “Customers from Lambert to Hope Hill into Cane Garden Bay and from Fish Bay down to Slaney are advised that the water supply has been interrupted due to a burst line at Sabbath Hill which has impacted the distribution side of the network.”

“This situation will be remedied by midday today,” she added.

A number of residents in the surrounding areas of the Botanic Station, Huntums Ghut, Purcell, Road Town and Kingston on Tortola had said they were being affected.

Additionally, residents in Fish Bay, Fort Hill, Nottingham Estate, lower Horse Path and Belle Vue also said they too were without water.

Efforts to contact Director Leonard to confirm whether water was restored to these areas were unsuccessful up until the time of publication.
