Speaker of the House of Assembly (HOA) Corine George-Massicote announced yesterday that Budget Day is slated for November 29.
During the budget address, Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr Natalio Wheatley will discuss the state of the territory’s economic and fiscal performance as well as the government’s fiscal strategy and outlook for 2023.
A theme for the budget is expected to be announced at a later date.
This will be Dr Wheatley’s first budget address since becoming Premier and Minister of Finance.
Last year, former Premier Andrew
Fahie presented a 2022 budget of a little more than $397 million, a figure which was just $4.9 million shy of the 2021 budget.
The sum of $337 million was set aside for the recurrent expenditure and capital expenditure was placed at a little more than $39 million.
From the baseline estimates of the 2022 budget, an overall budget deficit was projected at $41.85 million in 2022, $43.86 million in 2023, and $44.49 million in 2024.
The budget address is expected to be delivered live on radio and online on the House of Assembly’s official YouTube and
Facebook channels.
