Budget Debate To Proceed Despite Threat Of COVID-19 At HoA

The House of Assembly (HoA) has confirmed plans to proceed with a virtual budget debate after a staff suffered a COVID-19 exposure and was in contact with at least two members.
This was revealed in a press release from the House of assembly office issued today, December 13.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the HoA will not meet at the Save the Seed Centre, but will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 14 & 15, 2021 virtually, to conduct the Budget Debate and the remaining business of the 13th Sitting,” the HoA release stated.

In explaining the circumstances, the HoA stated that on Friday, December 10, 2021, there was an exposure by a staffer to Covid 19 which is being handled by the Ministry of Health.

In keeping with the Ministry of Health’s protocol on contact tracing, the HoA shared that the officer advised that he was in direct contact with two Honuorable Members and a HoA staff.

“The three persons who are fully vaccinated will be in isolation until their covid test,” the HoA release stated.

Additionally, it was disclosed that the HoA office located at the Richard C. Stoutt Building in Road Town, will be closed to the public from today Monday, December 13, 2021 to Friday, December 17, 2021.

The office will resume business to the public from Monday December 20, 2021, at 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

The public is invited to tune in on radio and television along with your normal social media platforms to listen to the Budget Debate.
