Businessman & former softball player Khoy Frett aka ‘Mailman’ passes

Proprietor of Khoy’s Mailing Service and former stellar softball player Mr Khoy Frett aka ‘Mailman’ has passed, according to information reaching Virgin Islands News Online.

According to reports, Mr Frett passed away at the weekend following a period of illness.

The death of Mr Frett has shocked many in the community, especially the softball fraternity.

According to a tribute by the Virgin Islands Softball - Baseball Association on its Facebook page on March 26, 2022, was an outstanding player who was profoundly known to deliver a homerun whenever his team, The Bluewings, called upon him.

According to the Virgin Islands Softball-Baseball Association, the late Mr Khoy Frett won Most Valuable Player in 2009 with the Bluewings at the 2009 BVI Softball Association Banquet. He was selected to represent the [British] Virgin Islands National Softball Team on many occasions but could not participate due to the management of his business Khoy’s Mailing Service.

It said Mr Frett played with the Bluewings for many years, and he was their faithful outfielder and the team's motivator in Virgin Islands dialect, “hypeman”. “When it came to hitting, ‘Mailman’ had a powerful compact swing that struck fear in many pitcher's eyes.”

It added that Mr Frett won Most Valuable Player in 2009 with the Bluewings at the 2009 BVI Softball Association Banquet. He was selected to represent the [British] Virgin Islands National Softball Team on many occasions but could not participate due to the management of his business Khoy’s Mailing Service.

Mr Frett concluded his Softball career with team Power Outage.

Only last week the softball-baseball fraternity was hit with the loss of coach and mentor Mr Terrence Chinnery aka ‘Chino’.
