BVI All-Party Group re-established to represent VI in UK parliament

BVI All-Party Group re-established to represent VI in UK parliament

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has said a BVI All-Party Group has been officially established in the United Kingdom (UK) and is ready to work to represent the territory in UK parliament.
In giving an update on international affairs in the House of Assembly earlier today, the Premier noted that the All-Party Group, made up of UK politicians in the House of Lords and House of Commons, is now functioning after years of it not being in commission.

“I am pleased to report that in the UK, after much hard work and effort by our international team — and in particular the BVI London Office — the BVI All-Party group was officially re-established last month. The group is made up of parliamentarians within the UK Parliament and will be a voice for the BVI within the House of Commons and House of Lords,” the Premier said.

“The chair is Mr James Sunderland, MP. The Government of National Unity will continue to engage internationally and continue to work in the best interest of the people of the Virgin Islands,” he added.

The last All-Party group was established to foster the relationships between the British parliament and the British Virgin Islands. The previous group was chaired by a member of the Conservative Party, Lord Henry Bellingham.
