Though the British Virgin Islands has seen a couple of new cases of the coronavirus in the last four days, the territory’s recovery rate has considerably spiked over that period.

When Health Minister Carvin Malone gave his last official COVID-19 update on Wednesday, September 16, the territory had 28 active cases.

Two days later, that number dropped to nine. This means the BVI has enjoyed a massive 67 percent recovery rate during the last six days.

In the meantime, two of the current nine active cases are new.

Government did not make any official announcement besides a caption-less Facebook post that showed that the BVI had recorded a total of 71 COVID-19 cases as of Friday, September 18. This number is up from the ’69’ tally Malone had reported during a public broadcast two days earlier on Wednesday the 16th.

Even while the BVI had detected new cases for that Wednesday broadcast, the Health Minister never expressly said so until BVI News sought clarification afterwards.
