BVI Government received a check from the Social Security Board for $40 million dollars

On Friday July 3rd, 2020 the Government of the Virgin Islands received a check from the Social Security Board for $40 million dollars.
The monies are expected to be directly used towards Phase two of the Economic Stimulus package as a result of COVID-19, in which the territory has seen hundreds of persons apply through the Social Security Board for unemployment grants.

Present at the handover ceremony was Director of the BVI Social Security Board Mrs. Antoinette Skelton, Chairman of the Social Security Board Mr. Ian Smith, Deputy Director of the Social Security Board (NHI) Roy Barry, Financial Secretary Mr. Glenroy Forbes, Premier Hon. Andrew A Fahie and Minister for Labour Hon. Vincent Wheatley along with other senior civil servants.
