BVI Red Cross appeals to public for donations to food bank

The BVI Red Cross is appealing to the public to donate “generously” to replenish its food bank which supports the most vulnerable members of the community.

“In order to help more people during these challenging times, the BVI Red Cross is appealing to the public to donate generously to our food bank,” Director of BVI Red Cross Ms Stacy C. Lloyd said in a press release on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

Individuals and businesses that would like to donate to the BVI Red Cross food bank should email Dennis Versoza at dversoza@rtwbvi.com with the subject line: BVI Red Cross - BVIR001.

In the email, persons should state the total of the donation, along with any specific items to include in the order for the food bank.

Assisting the most vulnerable

“The food bank supports the most vulnerable members of our community which includes the elderly, unemployed, the sick and shut-in, and single-parent homes,” Ms Lloyd said.

The food bank is located at Road Town Wholesale, which Director Lloyd said is one of the BVI Red Cross’ long-time donors.

“The BVI Red Cross is grateful to the unwavering support of donors like Road Town Wholesale.”

Road Town Wholesale recently donated to the BVI Red Cross food bank in time for the Easter weekend.

Those supplies are being given to persons in need; deliveries began on Saturday, April 11, 2020.

Persons in need of food supplies should register with the BVI Red Cross via telephone 494-6349.
