“The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is prepared to fully enforce the law as necessary,” the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) therefore warned.
This imposed curfew is as a result of Hurricane Dorian, whose centre has now passed the territory.
However, the latest advisory from the DDM has said the outer bands of Dorian will still continue to affect the territory until at least midnight, August 28.
“As a result of these expected conditions, the flash flood warning and warning for hazardous sea conditions remain in effect for the BVI until further notice. The NEOC will provide an update after the 5 pm advisory has been issued.”
Hurricane Dorian has caused flooding across sections of the territory. It has also lifted the roof from at least one business place in Road Town — the One Stop Mall.
There have also been reports of power outages across the territory.
