The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has promised to investigate the circumstances surrounding an island-wide outage that was experienced by residents this past Saturday, May 6.
The outage saw consumers experiencing multiple periods during the mid-morning and early afternoon where they were without access to any electricity from the main grid.
According to a statement released by the agency yesterday, there was a fault which occurred at approximately 10:17 am at its Pockwood Pond-based Henry Wilfred Smith Power Station, which resulted in a total system shutdown.
The entire grid, the BVIEC said, was restored later in the afternoon by 2:55 pm.
The corporation thanked residents for their patience and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused during the outage.
