BVIPA awarded regional cup after recording highest net profit increase, revenue

The Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC) has awarded the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) the Novaport Cup – an award for the port with the most improved performance in the region.

BVIPA reportedly bested 12 other competing ports after recording the highest increase in net profit and also the highest increase in revenue per revenue tonne.

The BVIPA received the award at the PMAC’s Annual General Meeting in Florida recently.

Managing Director of the BVIPA Lenius Lendor was also made an ‘honorary member’ of the PMAC for services rendered as Vice Chairman from 2003 to 2011 and Chairman from 2012 to 2015.

In the meantime, Lendor announced in a brief statement that the BVIPA is now “working on completing the temporary facility at West End and passing the upcoming International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code inspection”.

The Novaport Cup is scheduled to arrive in the territory this month and will remain for one year until the next PMAC general meeting. The Novaport Plaque, which was awarded alongside the trophy, will remain with BVIPA.
