BVIPA in need of legal services

BVIPA in need of legal services

The BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) has indicated that it is currently in need of legal services.
The Authority gave that indication in a tender notice inviting bids from eligible candidates to provide these services.

The BVIPA did not disclose the reason it needs these services nor did it say whether these services are for the short, medium or long term. However, the Authority said interested persons have until the end of January to submit their bids.

Based on information published on the Authority’s official website, there are at least three separate managerial positions currently being advertised — Managing Director, Compliance Manager, and Deputy Managing Director.

They were all published on the BVIPA’s website last month.

The Managing Director job vacancy was posted on December 20 last year — one day after BVI News reported that the BVIPA has been operating without a managing director for nine months; despite the absence of Oleanvine Maynard who held that post but has been incarcerated in the United States (US).

The Compliance Manager vacancy was also posted on December 20 while the Deputy Managing Director post was published three days later. Operations Manager Dean Fahie had been serving as the Acting Deputy Managing Director in Maynard’s absence but information on the BVIPA website suggests that he is no longing serving in that acting role.
