BVIPA requiring mask wearing @ its indoor facilities

BVIPA requiring mask wearing @ its indoor facilities

Despite the Government of the Virgin Islands lifting mask mandates today, June 15, 2022, the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has informed the public that the wearing of face masks/coverings will still be required in indoor public spaces when visiting its facilities.

On June 13, 2022, the Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Marlon A. Penn (R8) issued a statement on the Cabinet decision on the removal of the legal requirement for the wearing of face masks/coverings in public places that would come into effect on June 15, 2022.

The BVI Ports Authority will require its frontline workers and visitors to wear face masks/coverings when in an indoor public space at all BVIPA offices and facilities.

Decision totally lawful

In that statement, it was also noted that public and private organisations would be allowed to set their own policies on face masks/coverings.

“As such and keeping in accordance with the mask policy instituted by the public service in a circular issued by the Deputy Governor, David D. Archer, Jr. on 14th June 2022, the BVI Ports Authority will require its frontline workers and visitors to wear face masks/coverings when in an indoor public space at all BVIPA offices and facilities,” the BVIPA stated in a press release today, June 15, 2022.
