C&W Foundation, Miss World Organisation donates $25K to ESHS

The Cable & Wireless Charitable Foundation in collaboration with the Miss World BVI Organisation recently donated $25,000 to the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) for the restoration of their technical labs.
The school’s labs were destroyed during Hurricane Irma back in 2017.

Minister of Education Dr Natalio Wheatley thanked both organisations for the grant, which will go towards furthering education at the high school.

“I would like to thank the Miss World BVI Organisation for the facilitation of this donation. I would like to thank Flow as well, not only for this donation to the technical labs of the Elmore Stoutt High School, but all the other work that they have been doing in the Ministry, particularly the work done with the Bregado Flax Educational Centre and also at the L. Adorothy Turnbull Building at the Elmore Stoutt High School, in relation to the provision of internet connectivity.”

Flow BVI Country Manager Ravindra Maywahlall stated in a media release that the Foundation was pleased to be a part of the grant which will ensure that students have access to modern technical labs.

“With the BVI’s growing digital landscape, Flow and the C&W Charitable Foundation are ensuring that our students have access to modern technology and learning platforms to further build their skills.”

“We thank Miss World BVI for their willingness to be our non-profit partner with this endeavor, in a similar capacity as the Unite BVI Foundation, with whom we partnered for the repair works on Building 1 of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre,” Maywahlall added.

The Cable & Wireless Charitable Foundation in collaboration with UniteBVI contributed a combined $1.1 million towards the restoration of Building 1 of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre back in 2018.

On August 30, 2019, the building was handed over to the government following its completion.
