This was announced by Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (Al) in a July 8, 2021, COVID-19 briefing on the current situation in the territory.
According to Hon Malone, “These funds will be monitored and approved by the Financial Secretary together with the Ministry of Health and Social Development before any funds are expended for this purpose. Resources continue to be allocated to fight this.”
He said the situation in this Tterritory remains a troubling one, however, all must remember to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and measures as the only true way to fight the outbreak.
“What we have to do is to look in terms of what will be required in order to get this done. We cannot determine what our fate may be with regional and global events,” he said.
The Health Minister further admonished all to continue following public health protocols such as wearing of face masks and practicing frequent hand hygiene.
“We must maintain physical distance in public spaces, and we must get vaccinated as it is our best tool to reduce the transmission of the virus,” he said.
The latest figure on the territory COVID-19 infections rates is 821 active confirmed cases as of July 8, 2021, with authorities suspecting the super-contagious Delta Variant of the virus present in the territory.
