Workers' rights campaigners are urging the UK government to oppose Shein’s potential listing on the FTSE, calling it a betrayal to workers and the environment.

Alena Ivanova from Labour Behind the Label expressed dismay over British politicians' support for the move, highlighting severe labor violations and lack of transparency.

Public Eye’s investigation revealed that Shein factory workers often work 70-hour weeks.

Additionally, Mathias Bolton of UNI Global Union criticized Shein for poor labor practices.

Despite Shein’s claims of ethical improvements and compliance, critics, including the British Fashion Council, are concerned.

Shein, headquartered in Singapore with operations in China, is reportedly planning a London Stock Exchange listing, which the Labour party supports for investment and growth.

However, questions remain about the ethics and sustainability of Shein’s business practices.
