A new campaign led by British retail consultant Mary Portas has launched an online petition urging the UK government to block Shein's planned IPO in London.

The China-founded fast fashion retailer, known for its affordable clothing, is accused of exploiting workers, harming the environment, and avoiding taxes.

The petition calls for a thorough investigation into Shein's labor practices, environmental impact, and tax arrangements before allowing it to list on the London Stock Exchange.

Shein denies the allegations and states its commitment to fair labor practices.

The campaign is also supported by former Green Party lawmaker Caroline Lucas and has gathered over 33,000 signatures as of July 17.
