CEHO Dispels Rumors: No COVID-19 Cases Aboard Cruise Ships

Chief Environmental Health Officer (CEHO) Mr. Lionel Michael has shut down rumours that there are currently cruise ships in the territory with COVID-19 cases.
“I can tell you that there is currently no ships with COVID-19 [cases] on board in the BVI,” he told BVI Platinum News moments ago, December 26.

He continued: “There are two ships in the BVI now, the Star Legend in Jost Van Dyke and Wind Sar Amsterdam in Virgin Gorda. They were given free pratique (permission for the ship to enter the port) to enter the BVI ports, they have no cases on board.”

In the meantime, BVI Platinum News understood that at least three other cruise ships were expected to call to the British Virgin Islands today. However, due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases onboard, the calls were cancelled.
