CGB Baptist to house Enis Adams students as school undergoes fixes

CGB Baptist to house Enis Adams students as school undergoes fixes

The Cane Garden Bay Baptist Church has partnered with the Ministry of Education to allow the use of the church’s annex — which includes classrooms and a hall — for the first school term while the second-floor classrooms at the Enis Adams Primary (EAPS) are under construction.
Education Minister Sharie de Castro said this decision was taken following the update on August 25 regarding the progress made and needed to complete the second floor of the EAPS building.

The minister said several people expressed concerns about the plan, particularly about having a section of students attend school half-day while the building was being completed.

“With advice from the principals, the Ministry of Education approached the leadership of the Cane Garden Bay Baptist Church in an effort to secure additional space for the school to use,” de Castro said.

“I am pleased to report that the CGBBC graciously agreed to allow for the use of the annex which includes classrooms and a hall for the period of 12th September to 9th December, while the second-floor classrooms at the EAPS site are under construction,” she added.

This arrangement allows all students from Enis Adams Primary School and Althea Scatliffe Primary School (ASPS) to attend full-day sessions during the construction period.

“With this arrangement, two Grade 5 and three Grade 6 groups will be stationed at the Cane Garden Bay Church Annex from 8:40 am to 3:15 pm daily. One Administrator and a senior teacher will oversee this section of the school during this time. All classes, including Music, P.E. and Spanish will take place there. All other students will attend classes at the Enis Adams campus from 8:40 am to 3:15 pm daily. Classes will begin on 12th September for both locations,” de Castro said.

The minister advised parents that transportation will be provided from the festival grounds in Road Town to the school and the church facility daily. The drop-off time will be 8 am and the pickup time will be 3:50 pm.

“The Ministry of Education takes this time to thank all parents affected for their patience and cooperation as we seek to finalize plans for the full-day school arrangement for all students. As minister, I am grateful to the parents, community partners and the public as a whole for the support and cooperation as we begin this new school year,” de Castro said.
