Chanel debuted their spring-summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection in the Grand Palais in Paris, delivering numerous looks including black tweed suits and fluorescent jeans, Tuesday afternoon.

Creative Director Virginie Viard said the collection was a tribute to Chanel muses around Hollywood’s cinematic scene. The collection was inspired by red carpet looks and the genuine nature that arrives from behind-the-scenes experiences.

“Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld dressed so many actresses in films and in real life,” Viard said. “I was thinking about them who make us dream so much. But without wanting to replicate. Without falling into a vintage citation. I wanted it to be very joyful, colourful, and very vibrant too.”

Following in this classic Hollywood theme, Viard worked with Dutch photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to produce a series of photographs and short promotional videos capturing models in black and white cinematic environments: gazing out a window, strolling the streets of Paris and talking on the telephone.

The collection is a melting pot of classic Chanel-wear as well as refreshing spring-summer feels: fluid dresses, neon colorways, vibrant bottoms and sequined shirts. Natural elegance is at the core of each look, incorporating both floral and crystalized bling garments. Color is not to be missed as it is everywhere to be seen from pink pants to rainbow printed tops.
