Chef Greg Best joins Scrub Island Resort

A very popular chef in the Caribbean is now part of the team attending to the taste buds of guests of Scrub Island Resort.

Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina has appointed Chef Greg Best as Executive Chef of the luxury, private-island getaway.

According to a press release from the world-renowned resort on February 7, 2023, Chef Best will oversee operations and menu development at the resort’s various food and beverage outlets and will direct events taking place in the 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting/banquet space.

Tucked along a rugged cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and neighboring islands, Scrub Island Resort has offered a serene haven for travelers since opening in 2010, providing exceptional on-island experiences and an ideal location for island-hopping exploration of the best of the [British] Virgin Islands (VI).

‘Exceptional track record’

“In addition to exceptional service, an incomparable location and outstanding amenities, Scrub Island is widely recognized for offering outstanding dining options,” said General Manager Michael J. Schoonewagen.

“With his exceptional track record leading kitchens throughout the Caribbean, I’m confident Chef Best will build on our stellar reputation, taking our culinary team to even higher levels for our guests," Schoonewagen added.

The resort said Chef Best has spent nearly two decades perfecting his skills in culinary leadership at several exceptional resorts, including several in the Caribbean.

Most recently, he was Chef de Cuisine at the refined Rosewood Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda. His career also includes positions as culinary director at various resorts in the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos and West Indies, where he received his professional culinary training.
