Coronavirus: Gov't Assesses Food Supply

The Government has started to examine the Territory's food supply as part of its response to the Coronavirus, COVID-19.
Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon. Andrew Fahie indicated that the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) continues to lead the way.

According to Premier Fahie, on Thursday, March 12, a meeting was organised by the HEOC to meet with Members of House of Assembly and an opportunity was also taken to invite supermarkets and wholesalers to the meeting to ascertain and discuss strategies in place to ensure adequate and continual food and cleaning supplies, and to discuss strategies for imports in light of what is happening on the global front.

"While there are still no confirmed cases within our Territory, we are keeping a high level of vigilance because our health system and our economy are not immune from world events. We must be vigilant! We must prepare," the Premier indicated publicly via Facebook.
