COVID-19 & the hope of a better tomorrow

COVID-19 & the hope of a better tomorrow

The bridge to a post-COVID World must teach humanity the fragility of life, human compassion, and the need to cherish living in the moment
The seeds of a post-COVID world are being sown today, even as humanity faces the trauma of life with a killer pandemic that threatens the lives of millions in all corners of the globe.

The reality is that we all want the end to this ‘’nightmare.’’

And there is no guarantee of any type of ending in 2021, even with the adoption, production, and distribution of a successful vaccine.

The start of 2023 is when most experts – scientific and social- see a return to normal.

Then the pandemic has revealed the utter futility of a world being driven into nationalist silos reminiscent of the early 1900s.

The simple reality is that it will take a unified and multilateral approach to defeat this pandemic.

Thankfully there are indications that COVID-19 is driving a global social re-awakening. Internationalism should return with a President Joe Biden, and global political, social, and economic leaders, will once again huddle together in DAVOS and thrash out the why, what, where, when, and how, of global matters.

The world has pivoted owing to Covid. Remote working is becoming a norm with the aid of digitization. Remote work is here to stay and this new working culture will impact the world in ways yet to be seen.

Today’s classrooms and lecture halls are becoming virtual learning hubs. The world is adapting, innovating and improvising.

Christmas is a joyful time for all peoples on earth, in spite of the current pandemic trauma.

Life remains a wonder. The planet retains spectacular beauty.

Out of the black of infinite space is the miracle of life on earth. Our lives are but a blinking moments in eternity. But we must retain the wonders of living, and that element of mystery, to enjoy life.

As the Winter Solstice sets in, December 2020 is a time for wise reflection. It is a time for all thinking people to ponder the miracle of life, and the infinite promise of eternity.

Merry Christmas.
