COVID testing services at Althea Scatliffe ‘suspended indefinitely’

COVID testing services at Althea Scatliffe ‘suspended indefinitely’

The government has returned all its COVID-19 testing services to the white tent located in the emergency area parking lot of the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital.

This sudden change took effect Saturday, August 21.

In a press statement Friday afternoon, the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) said “COVID-19 testing services at the Althea Scatliffe Primary School have been suspended indefinitely”.

It did not disclose the reason for this course of action which comes days after launching its QR code COVID testing pilot programme at the school.

The decision also follows the announcement that all schools will be allowed to resume face-to-face classes at the start of the new academic year that begins in September.

In the meantime, persons requiring COVID-19 testing are being reminded that the tent at the hospital will be open from 8:30 am to 3 pm daily.

The following schedule should be observed:

• 8:30 am to 10:30 am — Persons for travel, medical procedures/admissions
• 10:30 am to 12 noon — Persons to exit quarantine
• 1:30 pm t0 3 pm — Persons for contact tracing or other Public Health orders
