Crafts Alive vendors promise better merchandise, product prices - BVI News

Crafts Alive vendors have pledged to supply better merchandise and improve product pricing — among other things — as part of what appears to be a verbal agreement with government. Minister of Transportation & Works Kye Rymer said the vendors …

Minister of Transportation & Works Kye Rymer said the vendors - who are the leasees of Crafts Alive Village in Road Town - made the pledge following a meeting between themselves and government last month.

Rymer said several concerns were raised from both sides. These included rent payments, patronising of shops, as well as cooperation and harmony among the leasees.

He said the vendors left the meeting with what he described as a much better understanding of what is required of them to improve the success of the village.

“The leasees have agreed that they will revert to the rules of Crafts Alive along with the improvements in product, product pricing, better product displays, a wider variety of merchandise, and to reintroduce entertainment and cultural exhibitions,” Rymer stated.

Rymer further said the government has offered a ‘lifeline’ to vendors who are in arrears as it relates to rent payments.

He said: “I have extended the grace period for leasees who actually intend to make good on any outstanding rent payments as the government strive to raise the standard of the experience at the Crafts Alive Village.”
