Cruise Ship with 85 Passengers Infected with Corona Passed through Hungary

Due to the spread of coronavirus among passengers, a cruise ship of a Leipzig-based tour operator was stopped in Vienna. The ship originally started its trip from Romania and sailed through Hungary and Austria to its planned destination, Passau. 85 out of nearly 140 passengers tested positive.
Two people who tested positive were already taken off the ship in Romania and quarantined. The other 137 had to leave the ship in the Austrian capital, and were taken to Leipzig by four buses. The ship was immediately quarantined in Vienna.

During the bus trip, the sick and healthy tourists were separated from each other, except for those who had negative tests but wanted to stay close to their infected family members and friends. On the road to Leipzig, the passengers had to wear masks. The drivers of the buses were all vaccinated.

According to press information, none of the infected passengers, including the four crew members, had to be hospitalized.
