Culture Wars: 'A Dog Whistle to Attack the Right', Says Badenoch

In a GB News leadership special, Kemi Badenoch claimed that the term 'culture wars' is used to attack the right. She emphasized the need to defend the country's culture and criticized The Guardian for ongoing mockery of Tory leaders. Her leadership rival, Robert Jenrick, discussed immigration policy and defense priorities. Badenoch dismissed concerns about her focus on maternal responsibilities, asserting that it isn't always women who have them. The candidates debated leaving the European Court of Human Rights, with Badenoch cautioning that it's not a complete solution for migration control.
Kemi Badenoch, a Conservative leadership candidate, has claimed that the term 'culture wars' is often used as a 'dog whistle to attack the right'.

During a GB News leadership special moderated by Christopher Hope, Badenoch emphasized the need to defend the country's culture against criticism.

She accused The Guardian of mocking her regardless of any Tory leader's identity.

In the same session, Robert Jenrick, also contending for leadership, criticized the government for policy decisions related to immigration and defense.

Responding to skepticism about her maternal responsibilities, Badenoch argued, 'It isn't always women that have parental responsibility.' Both candidates addressed topics like the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), where Badenoch stated that leaving the ECHR is 'not a silver bullet' for controlling migration.

She also lamented Brexit's lack of success. Meanwhile, Jenrick proposed capping migration to 'tens of thousands or lower'.

The debate showcased differing visions for the Tory party, notably in immigration policies and national defense, highlighting the ideological divide within the party.
