Curfew Moves To 1 AM

Governor John Rankin, has ordered that the existing curfew in the British Virgin Islands that was implemented to control and suppress the COVID-19 be further relaxed.
The Order was made and gazetted on September 17 and will come into force on Sunday 19th September 2021 to October 3rd 2021.

It said: “The Governor, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3, read together with section 4 of the Curfew Act, 2017 (No. 20 of 2017) makes the following Order: 1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Imposition of a Curfew (No.14) Order, 2021. (2) This Order shall come into force on Sunday 19th day of September 2021 at 1:00 a.m.”

The Order continued: “(1) For the purposes of controlling, suppressing or preventing the spread of COVID-19 and for the protection of all persons within the Territory, a curfew is hereby imposed from the date this Order comes into force. For the purposes of subsection (1), no person shall be on the streets, and every person shall remain confined to their place of residence (inclusive of their yard space), from the date this Order comes into force to Sunday, 3rd October 2021, between the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily.”

This Order also applies to persons in mandatory quarantine who would be prohibited from leaving quarantine for the specified timeframe of his or her quarantine.

In the meantime, the Order pointed out that the curfew does not apply to the essential workers and other persons who have been given curfew passes due to their rank and work.
