Deputy Governor Mr. David D. Archer, Jr. 2019 Emancipation Festival Message

Deputy Governor Mr. David D. Archer, Jr. 2019 Emancipation Festival Message

Good day to all, the time has come again for us to pause from our busy undertakings and join in the 2019 Emancipation celebrations. This is the time of year that we celebrate BVI ancestral freedom from slavery and reflect on their journey, resiliency and triumphs, and also to celebrate our cultural history.

As your Deputy Governor, let me encourage you to draw inspiration as you reflect, and look forward to the future with optimism as we continue to build an amazing BVI. You have worked tirelessly during this year in your varying capacities helping to restore and rebuild the BVI; I applaud you for your hard work. We are on the right side of history; let us continue to build on our passions and work together to shape an amazing BVI.

I encourage you to join in the diverse cultures that will be displayed throughout our festivities. Be sure to participate in the events and support our musicians, artists, bands and vendors as we all enjoy, “A Colourful Cultural Vibe as BVI Festival Turns 65”.  Enjoy the Emancipation Celebration, but remember to do so responsibly.  I look forward to seeing you at the various events and wish you all a Happy and Safe Emancipation Festival 2019!
