DMV hosting event for riders to get licensed, registered

DMV hosting event for riders to get licensed, registered

Minister for Transportation Kye Rymer is appealing to motorcyclists in the territory to attend a licensing and registration drive scheduled for this weekend.
The event, which is a partnership between the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Ultimate Vacation BVI Ltd is open to licensed and unlicensed riders of scooters and motorcycles as well as potential riders, who can take advantage of getting all legal documentation completed on the spot.

He said the February 22 event is open to licensed and unlicensed riders of scooters and motorcycles as well as potential riders.

“I encourage the parents of these riders as well to come and accompany their children because at the age of 16 you can ride a motorcycle, but I think education is lacking and this event we will be able to provide as much information as possible,” Rymer said in the House of Assembly.

Minister Rymer said an insurance agency will also be available at the event and said this will allow bikers to purchase insurance coverage to complement having their motorcycle or scooter licensed.

“With the increased usage of motorcycles and scooters on the roadway, safety and rider education is paramount. Therefore, educational fliers will be handed out during the event along with the administering of the written exams, rider’s skill test and as mentioned before, the registering and licensing these motorcycles,” the minister reasoned.

The event is being hosted behind the Ralph T O’Neal Administration Complex on Tortola and is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am.

Minister Rymer said the partnership is to ensure the success of the Ultimate Biker’s Run 2020 which is slated for March 29.
