‘Do not get close to or touch any downed power lines’- BVIEC

The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has warned persons not to get close to or touch any power lines downed during the passage of Tropical Storm Fiona.
According to a public message from BVIEC yesterday, September 17, 2022, after the storm has passed the Territory and the all-clear is given, the BVIEC team, as customary, will endeavour to carry out assessments and restore power accordingly.

“During this period, we will greatly appreciate the public's cooperation and patience,” BVIEC said.

BVIEC also said: “Persons should not get close to or touch any downed power lines, but report them to BVIEC by calling (284) 852-4600.”

Fiona has now reached Puerto Rico as a Category 1 hurricane.
