Dr Natalio D. Wheatley retains Chairmanship of VIP

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has been voted to remain as Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) as it heads into the 2023 General Election.

Dr Wheatley, who had taken over the chairmanship on April 30, 2022, following the resignation of former Premier Andrew A. Fahie, retained the Chairmanship post when the VIP held its Congress at R&R Malone Complex in Pockwood Pond this afternoon, Sunday, February 5, 2023.

The current Premier in the Unity Government edged out Honourable Carvin Malone (AL).

According to the final tally, the votes for Dr the Hon Wheatley is 60 and Hon Malone received just 12 votes.

Former Health Minister and former Opposition Member Honourable Carvin Malone (AL) served as President of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) from 1999 to 2016. He; however, made an unsuccessful bid for Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) on February 5, 2023.
