Drugs and Weapons Seized at Brooklyn Jail Holding Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Federal authorities conduct sweep amid ongoing violence concerns
Federal authorities seized drugs, homemade weapons, and electronic devices in a sweep at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, where music producer Sean 'Diddy' Combs is being held on sex trafficking conspiracy charges.
The sweep, conducted by the Bureau of Prisons, was part of a preplanned operation to ensure the safety of staff and inmates, unrelated to Combs's detention.
The jail, which houses 1,200 inmates, has been under scrutiny following fatal stabbings of two men over the summer, leading to murder charges against five inmates.
Additional charges have been filed against four detainees and a corrections officer for various assaults.
U.S. Attorney Breon Peace emphasized that violence in federal jails will not be tolerated.
The MDC previously housed Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell and currently houses crypto swindler Sam Bankman-Fried.
Combs, facing numerous civil claims of sexual assault, has requested bail, arguing poor jail conditions.
A federal grand jury is set to review new evidence against Combs, while prosecutors resist early evidence disclosure requests by his defense, citing concerns over witness security.
Meanwhile, media outlet TMZ revealed an NDA requiring party-goers at Combs's events to refrain from recording without consent.
